How we score

The Critic Scoreaggregates existing editorial tests into a 0–100 rating — the Metacritic principle, applied to wind-watersports gear. We don't copy tests: every source is linked, every takeaway paraphrased, and the score comes from the whole picture, not a single opinion.

Why not a simple average?

Today's test landscape publishes almost no numeric ratings. So we classify each review in a structured way (positive / mixed / negative) and weight it twice: by review depth — a real full test counts more than a first look, a first look more than a launch overview (1× / 0.6× / 0.4×) — and by source quality — formats with a real verdict and pros/cons count more than marketing-flavored coverage. Where numeric ratings exist, they flow in normalized. A positive verdict maps to 85, mixed to 55, negative to 25 before weighting.

When do we show a score?

Only with at least 2 independent, scoring-eligible sources. Below that we honestly show “unscored” with the number of reviews collected so far. Reviews with thin evidence (e.g. reconstructible only from search snippets) are excluded from scoring.

No advertiser bias

We sell no ads and take no manufacturer money. Sources are openly linked — the magazines get the traffic, we provide the aggregation. Next to the Critic Score, the Stoke Score from real riders is coming; the two stay deliberately separate.
